FAQ
Can a handyman fix my leaking faucets
A handyman can probably handle minor repairs but will not have the training required to perform major projects, such as rewiring a house or installing custom cabinetry. Handymen can complete minor home improvement tasks.
Which is simpler: Contracting or being a handyman.
Handyman work requires less resources than contracting because you only need your own tools. While contractors often rely on subcontractors, handymen must be able and willing to manage their own work schedules.
Is it worth the extra cost of professional handyman work?
It all depends on what type of project you are looking to accomplish. For complex projects, such as an office renovation or construction project, a professional handyman would be a great option.
How do I find a trusted handyman?
Before hiring a handyman, you should always verify references. Ask family members and friends who have dealt with them in the past. Check out the internet for reviews. Handymen can post reviews on a variety of sites.
Do I need to pay a handyman per hour or per project?
It all comes down to personal preference. Some prefer to pay their handyman by the hour. This allows them to see exactly what they charge. Some prefer to pay for each project, even though they may be doing multiple jobs at once. It doesn't matter which way you go, it works great.
When is the best time of year to hire handymen?
There is no "right time" to hire a handyman. All you need is to get going as soon and as quickly as possible. To save money, you could wait until after the holidays. However, you can also call various handymen by picking up the phone.
Do handyman services cost less than general contractors?
Yes! Sometimes, a handyman can be a better alternative to hiring a general contractor to complete the task. This is especially true for those who have never had a contractor do a job. Handymen can also speed up the completion time of projects because they are skilled at completing specific tasks faster and more efficiently.

How to Replace a Broken Window?
Replacing broken windows is one of the most common home improvement tasks. The task consists of repairing damage caused to the glass inside your house. The repair should take approximately 30 minutes. However, if you are not familiar with how to replace broken panes of glass, you may cause further damage to the home. This article contains some tips to help you replace a damaged window.
First, remove the old glass from its frame
To remove the old windowpane, you will first need to take out the screws that held it in place. The lock located at the top middle of the bottom portion of the window frame must be undone. Next, pull the window up slightly so it's no longer attached to the sill plate (the metal bar below the floor). Finally, use a pry tool to carefully loosen the remaining screws until they pop out of their holes. After the panes have been removed from the window, clean them well.
Next step: Clean the glass
Use a dry cloth or paper towel to wipe away any dirt from the surface of the glass. If debris is stuck under the glass, try cleaning it with a spray bottle filled with water and rubbing alcohol.
Step 3: Install the new glass
Attach the window frames to the panes. Use a screwdriver to push the outermost edge of your pane down. Gently push the pane back into the opening in the frame. Move on to the next piece of pane. Push it into the opening in the frame. Continue inserting panes until all windows are assembled. Seal the area where the panes meet with silicone caulk gun.
Fourth step: Repair any damage.
Before installing the new glass, make sure to inspect the area around any cracks. Install two pieces of small wood on each side of any hole if the break was near the corner. These wooden blocks will give strength to the window and act as spacers between the glass and the weatherproofing material.
Fifth Step: Seal the repaired area
After the glass has had to be replaced, apply silicone caulking at the perimeter edges. This will create an excellent seal between the glass & the surrounding wallboard. You can find silicone caulking in hardware stores and online. Choose a color that matches your walls.
Finally, let the caulking cure overnight. Do not disturb the caulking until it has hardened completely. If you don't wait enough, the caulking could crack when you take it off.
